Course Description:

Dr. Jay Dawes is the co-editor for the NSCA’s Developing Agility and Quickness, co–author of Maximal Interval Training, and has written numerous book chapters and articles on improving sports and tactical performance. His primary research interests are improving performance for both sports and tactical performance among law enforcement officers.

In this session, Dr. Dawes discusses the best ways to measure acceleration, top end speed and speed endurance, as well as how to use these results to individualize an athletes speed training program.

ESU Presentation- Mark Roozen- Running an Effective and Revenue Producing Sports Performance and Conditioning Camp (Non-CEU)

Mark Roozen has been a Strength & Conditioning Coach with the NFL and College programs for years. He was also certification director for the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is the President and Owner Coach Rozy LLC, his company that handles public appearances and speaking, consultant work, performance training and offering performance products. He is also Co-Founder of LIVE PAIN FREE – The Right Moves, which helps folks move right and exercise right to eliminate pain and movement problems in work, life and play. Mark is also part of of 911 Tactical Performance, an organization that does consulting, education and training with police, firefighters and military groups throughout the country. His training methodologies have been successfully applied to the full spectrum of the population youth, geriatric, rehabilitation, and a wide range of athletes. Mark Roozen received his bachelor in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota and his master’s degree in Exercise Science from Tarleton State University, in Stephenville, Texas. Roozen is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with Distinction, Certified Personal Trainer, a Fellow of the NSCA and is a Club Coach with USA Weightlifting. He has spoken across the country and internationally on all aspects of training, strength and conditioning, program design, pre-hab and re-hab topics, nutrition and areas of motivation, inspiration and goal setting.

ESU Interview with Andrea Hudy- Author & Sports Performance Coach for the Kansas Jayhawks

Andrea Hudy, MA, CSCS, RSCC*D, USAW-1  is the nationally acclaimed Sports Performance Coach for the NCAA Champion Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence, KS and author of Power Positions.

Andrea Hudy joined the staff for the University of Kansas (KU) in September 2004. As the Assistant Athletic Director for Sport Performance, Hudy oversees the Anderson Strength and Conditioning Complex for all KU sports, as well as strength and conditioning responsibilities for the KU men’s basketball team since her arrival in 2004.  In January 2013, Hudy was named the National College Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) for her dedication to improving athletic performance with safe and effective science-based programs. She also served nine and a half years at the University of Connecticut, where she worked closely with the Huskies’ men’s and women’s basketball teams. Hudy earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at the University of Maryland and her Master’s of Art degree in Sport Biomechanics from the University of Connecticut. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) by the NSCA and a United States of America Weightlifting Level I Coach (USAW-1). Additionally, Hudy has her national massage certification.
